It's unlikely that there's a single copywriter, designer or developer who didn't in some way do a 'COVID creative', whether in the effort to educate and inform, or to advertise the various safety measures in place. This is my 'COVID creative'.
✒ Thermo Fisher Scientific is the world's largest supplier of biotech equipment, products and services, and a leading driver behind much of the technology which facilitated the swift creation of a COVID-19 vaccine. They approached us, as a long-standing client, to interpret a whitepaper on the subject of the SARS-CoV-2 vaccine, and to help them turn it into a series of informative videos.
The challenge with this project was to take a very specialised subject (and something I don't pretend to be an expert on) and not only parse the information into easily digestible pieces but also discern what information was vital to portray and what could be left aside.
We created a series of concepts around the idea that, while a devastating pandemic for the world, in an objective sense the SARS-CoV-2 virus was the 'hero' of our story. We decided to always show the virus on-screen; changing shape in order to tell the story, but the persistent morphing red dot was ever-present, just like the virus was for so long.
Once the concept was developed, I then wrote the three scripts and worked alongside the voice artist to ensure their delivery was realised. The result is a series of informative and insightful videos about possibly the most positive aspect of the pandemic: the swift response from science.
